Do not put any fish with piranhas. I use to breed piranhas 30 years ago and stop because they are just to much trouble.
It takes year to raise young to breeding size and you will probably lose about 70% of them before you get them to size. They are a messy fish. I live near Chicago and I used to go smelt fishing every spring. I would catch a couple of five gallon pails full of smelt. I would clean then and freeze them for food during the year. Piranhas will tend to shred their food which means that you have to clean their tank often. They eat thru normal nets and must be handled with care. I a female with three males (Spread) their eggs. After removing the adults and putting the in another tank the female killed the males. When I gave up on piranhas I
gave 6 4" Babies to my best friend he put them into a tank with 8 11" piranhas, two days later only 3 of the 4" fish were alive in the tank the Adults had been eaten. If you want something that can fool people a red pleco is ok but remember that the also get huge about 10" - 15".

well first off....are you sure they are red bellied piranha? they probably are red bellied pacu...(they look ALOT like red bellied piranha) i ask b/c it is against the law to have or sell any kind of piranha b/c people often let fish go when they do not want them anymore and aggressive fish like piranha will screw up the whole eco. system...but some shops/people may try to get a sell by saying they are piranha....i worked/managed a pet shop and NONE of our distibuters had any way of getting them .... well if they are pacu (and they most surely are) you can keep a pleco with them...do they have sharp visible teeth? if not they are pacu.

%.?!?! Hell no! They get like super super extensive! so no way in a fifty 5 gal. and effective no.....unquestionably in no way! Piranhas will just about tear up any shifting merchandise they'll see in a count of seconds. purely shop the piranhas all by ability of themselves. they are themselves so exciting.
