This is probably either a bad humor question or a question against Greece!
For your information what is now Turkey used to be part of the Greek empire of the Middle Ages, the famous Byzantine.
Greece has lost because of the Turks the Greek provinces of Asia Minor, the imperial capitol of Constantinople (now known as Istanbul) and numerous populations.
But I have a better idea! Let’s call Greece, Asia Minor and Middle East as former Greek empire of Alexander the great. Why don’t we call Europe former Roman Empire?
Of course this question is about FYROM. For your information the Slavic/Albanian Macedonia is officially recognized by United Nations as
FYROM (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) and that mainly to differenced it from Greek (real) Macedonia.
The state of FYROM (Slavic/Albanian-Macedonia) used as international name the Greek name “Macedonia” and that caused (and still causing) confusion between the 2 areas. And since Greek Macedonia is the authentic historic Macedonia, United Nations forced the Slavic/Albanian-Macedonia the use of the name FYROM in order to stop confusion with Greek Macedonia.
The same think would have happen if a new state decided to use as an international name the name “Republic of Athens”, or “Republic of New York”, or “Republic of Prussia” or “Republic of Normandy”. The United Nations again will have opposed the use of the name!
Hope that helped!
(As if the answer matters in the eyes of the fanatics!!)

Because although Turkey occupied Greece for 400 years, Greeks remained Greek, and they managed to get rid of Turkish occupation almost 2 centuries ago. Today Greece declares to be a democratic country, a full member of the European union and a country which is property of nobody since it is a free country.

As regards to the Turkish property in relation to Greece this is restricted to all these ancient Greek and Byzantine monuments that are found in Turkish land. These monuments are abbandoned , they become ruins, churches are used to keep animals inside, the icons have been sold and all this despite the fact that these monuments are part of the world' s heritage.

That is why Greece cannot be ever called ''Turkish property'' !!!!

That pretty much shows your complete lack of knowledge in history. Plus, call Greece what you like, it won't change anything for the rest of the world. And yes, Turkey should be called Former Mongolian Republic of the Middle East or Former Part of the Byzantine Empire.

You can say this about any country that has been colonized at some point in time but Greece has always been past and beyond Turkey.
With your logic Turkey should be called Former Mongolian Republic of middle east.

In politics and/or Geo-politics we always go forward and not backwards! The suggestion you made is not necessary at this time or any time to stir emotions of the past history -- what was then -- was history. Now, Greece is Greece and Turkey is Turkey since 1929 on with the eclipse of the Ottoman Empire.
It is good to update your history.

For the same reason, America is not called Former Indigenous People's Land, or Former Colonies of Spain or England
The same as Britain is not called Former Province of Rome or Former Norman Kingdom
people whose country has moved on dont want to reflect past negative realities.

That would be like the United States being "former Cherokee/Apache/Ute/etc. property". Doesn't make much sense to me.
