Simple: Just walk into your nearest Wachovia bank branch, see one of the customer service reps that are sitting at their desks, and tell him/her that you want to start a Roth IRA. That's it! They'll help you fill out the paperwork and move the funds from your savings and/or checking account(s) to your new Roth account.

Any financial institution can open a Roth IRA for you (that's what they do).

I'd recommend you speaking with someone that can help you with a diversified portfolio of mutual funds for your Roth IRA.

You may be limited as to the types of investments you can make if it is with the bank. If you are young, open one at a brokerage (etrade-schwab-merrill, whatever) and be sure to have some exposure to stocks... Talk to a financial planner if you are unsure as to what investments you need. BTW, it's easy to open, just ask them- the forms aren't any more complicated than others.
