I think before 24 or 27? weeks they call it miscarriage. I know that's awful, but it has to do with whether the baby can live outside the womb. After a certain amount of weeks (is it 20? I can't remember) it is called premature labor. There are miracles all the time, it could have happened.

yes the baby could survive as early as 24 weeks as long as it was in the correct facilities to treat that level of prematurity. The earliest to deliver a heathy baby and be able to take it home when you go home i believe is 36 weeks i delievered my second son at 36 weeks without any problems. With both my pregnacies i started getting complications both times around 28 weeks gestation due to the fact that 28 weeks is around the time the baby begins to shift into the position of delivery (head first usually) and the pressure on my cervix caused preterm labor so i was on bed rest both times at 28 weeks. but also with preterm labor about half of the time they will be able to stop it with a shot i forgot the name of it i recieved it a few times. I almost went into labor at 29 30 and 32 weeks and i recieved shots. But that statement is true the baby will be in the hospital for quite a while after its birth at least up until its estimated due date was probably at least another 16 weeks or so and maybe more... to make sure its completley healthy I know this due to the fact that my ex boyfriend and his girlfiend had a baby at 24 weeks and they showed me pictures and the baby is growing and is very healthy to this day because he recieved proper care.

I work with premature babies and the earliest I've seen a baby survive is 23 weeks. At 24 weeks babies have a 50% chance of survival, and by 28 weeks the chances go up to over 90%. Babies born before 28 weeks tend to have many medical problems, some which are life long. I have seen babies born at 24 weeks who by the time they were three were caught up developmentally so it does happen.

It can happen as early as 19 weeks. Although they will give you medication to stop the labor if you are that early.
Most babies can survive if born after 26 weeks. Although they will be small and have many health problems.
Most mom's are anxious and want to go into early labor. There is a reason it takes 40 weeks. Let your baby fully develop and go to term. That's the best "starting" gift you can give your baby.

There are many people who have premature labor that is 24 weeks or earlier. 24 weeks it is possible for a baby to survive...healthy is another question! Women who are high risk for premature labor can take medications to stop it and/or have a circlage done (French for purse string....the basically stitch your uterus closed and remove the stitches when the baby is mature enough to be born....and no, the baby does not just fall right out)

Nothing will make you go into early labour. All the wives tales are just myths. They make work for some people, but it's unlikely. Barring any medical intervention, your baby will come when he or she is ready and not a minute sooner. If you're dead set on having a baby at 37 weeks, you can always ask your doctor for an induction.
