Parents can limit their time playing for one thing. Kids need to be encouraged to have many interests.

You're thinking in stereotypes, and laughable ones at that. Games do not create unsocial people. Unsocial people are attracted to games, as are many social people. Lots of kids mess around instead of doing their work. Before games, it was sports, or books, or television. Games are just one more thing kids can do, but none of those problems would disappear or even lessen appreciably if games were to magically disappear from the earth.
If you're going to do a project on this subject, you might want to get a little more real, unbiased information first.

Free will is a very powerful thing. I play video games alot, and all my friends in high school did too. We never did poorly in school and had plenty of friends. I might not have played sports, but I have asthma, so that's kind of difficult anyway.
If kids are suffering from "video game addiction" try to get them interested in games like Dance Dance Revolution, which involves lots of excercise.

Kids need to play online games and meet the people who play them
I wont lie to you, I'm addicted to World of Warcraft and I feel that I've learned alot by talking to people on that game. If I've ever had a serious problem in life I just asked a close friend from it and they helped me through and showed me new ways to consider things in my life.

I'm a gamer. I also spend hours on the internet.
I exercise every day, and I lift weights. I am the healthiest guy I know. I have loads of friends, and i'm breezing through college. Please dont use those stereotypes, they're pathetic.
The only way to discourage an addiction is to show them the fun they could have by doing something else, and showing them how pathetic what they're doing is in comparison.

Sounds like someone is stereotyping gamers. I consider myself a gamer and it's true I don't play sports (I just don't want to), I do have plenty of friends and I did great in school.
