There's no reason I can think of for Republicans not giving homeless people money except for being poor or heartless, un-Christian, selfish and greedy.
Most economic conservatives, not necessarily Republicans- Libertarians too, believe in this silly notion that jobs grow on trees and all homeless people have to do is go out and pick a job off the job tree.
Didn't their parents ever tell them "money doesn't grow on trees"? There's much more out there that doesn't grow on trees!

This question sets up a false dichotomy. Republicans are inclined to take the position that private organizations and individuals spend money more efficiently than government does, and can do so in line with their values, as opposed to being forced to give to the poor. Republicans likewise would argue that the problem isn't likely to be rectified merely by throwing money at it. Indeed, they argue, a guaranteed social safety net may foster a sense of entitlement at the bottom and stifle productivity and growth. Why work for money when you can get support for free?

Why would anyone want to give homeless people money. 99% of them just use it for booze or drugs. Better to round them up and shoot them. Make it tidier on the streets that way.

Republicans are for it.
Conservatives (not republicans) are for it, BUT done by the private sector, not the government.
People going hungry is wrong. Stealing is wrong. Stealing money (taxes) to give to the hungry is wrong. 2 wrongs do not make a right.
See how everyone wants to help people, but by different methods? Some believe in stealing and oppression (government) some believe in freedom (private sector). Which side are you on?

I support giving them means to support themselves..I barely have enough cash to get by myself so cash is not an option for me to hand out..Any menial job they get wont pay the bills so they must find other ways to educate themselves to achieve higher wages..That takes time & money..both of which I cannot spare..but someone out there can..Get some programs in place & have them access them best they can..

I am for giving a helping hand and a roof over their heads and I believe they should take advantage of all programs that will help them to become self sufficient . I do not believe generations of families should be supported through our welfare system..

Most of them are Christians so beleive in Charity.
Many of them beleive that people shouldn't be forced to give money to the state to redistribute to the homeless but should give money of their own good will.
Having a political position says very little about your personal behaviour. http://gracchii.blogspot.com

So this is a perfect application of "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime"...
Why should anyone be expected to give another person money???
Give them time, education.. let them work the rest out.
This is exactly why liberals give to the poor. You give without educating and they become dependent on you. If a person is educated the can depend on themselves.
