When I connect to the internet (through dial-up) a box containing info about my connection and activity comes up...My question has to do with the activity: it list bytes sending and receiving, that I understand; next it list compression sending and receiving, this is in % (percentage) this is where my question comes in
When I log on it will list for instantance compression sending may be 18% and receiving may be 3 %....when the sending precentage is a high number it takes forever for that information to load and sometimes it just stops sending any info. Is there a way that I can change these settings??? When it runs a low precentage I usually don't have any problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

Get a cable modem.
The compression % rate is what is trying to be processed by your dial up connection. It's how fast/slow the data is coming in.
