Ahh! i'm so confused.......
i just moved into a flat and it has gas and electric. i have no idea how to use gas..
i keep turning on my boiler when i want to use my oven..heh.
soo my question. some guy came round to fix the washing machine..and he accidently turned the gas on my hob on by knocking against the dial thing that turns it on. and he told me that it dangerous to have it like that? and that i'm suppoed to turn it off when i don't use it...i thought the switch beside the boiler turned it off. but..apparently not. how does it work??

I have only used gas and I don't think you can turn it off. You can remove the knobs if you are afraid of bumping it on. Just make sure it is in the off position and pull the knob straight off. I love gas! Get yourself a cast iron skillet and get cooking. Your food will taste awesome and will not get burned spots on it because gas + cast iron heats evenly unlike electric.

Just make sure that after you cook all your knobs are always pointing to off. And also you should have a separate knob for the oven, you shouldn't have to turn on the broiler to use just the oven. You should here the clicking noise when you turn it up. Also if it doesn't have the user guide type the model of your oven in a search engine to get the specifics on the oven. Because if you are not sure if its on or not, that can be very dangerous, hope you're not a smoker!
