my ex and i do not talk, and haven't for about 16 years. he's been in the military. i have never asked him for anything for her. i would like to ask him if he'd give me $2000. to buy a car for our daughter. in return i will let him claim her on his taxes. keep in mind that his hatred for me over rides his loves for his own daughter. the last time she has seen him would be about 6-7 years. she does not talk to him she doesn't really like him (not because of any of my wrong doing i let her figure out what type of person he is) but she does loves him because he is her father so do you think i should ask him?

we lost contact because he's in begium. and i don't feel it's up to me to or our daughter to contact him he's the dad and if he wants to see her or call i've never forbid it. also, me allowing him to claim her on his taxes will give him a big tax break at the end of the year. he'd be getting back around $4000.

He's her father, he should help. Make it very plain help this once and claim her for taxes. Don't try to guilt him into it, just keep it to a business plan. But, make sure you have a plan without his help, just in case.

Does the title have your X-husband's name on it? If that is so, then in the eyes of the regulation he owns it, he has the right to do what he wants with it and enable whomever he desires to force it. If that's the case you have no grounds whatever for legal motion. He is flawlessly inside his rights as the legal proprietor. Basically //claiming// that the automobile is a present would not make it so. To ensure that your daughter to be the owner they might each have got to go to the dept. Of Motor automobiles, and he would must officially signal the title over to her.

yes! ask him...he is the father of your daughter and he has an obligation 2 her.and i think it's a shame that you 2 don't talk because you have a child together and that is a big thing! tell him about the money but also try to become his friend...it's best for your baby girl.:)

yes, but donot ask him to lend you money. just tell him your daughter wants a car, and it is nice when he pays in the car, because she is his daughter too, ask him to visit you both on her birthdays party, that would be a double surprise,
why did you lose contact at first? i am sure he is keen to get to know his daughter and sharing money by buy a car for her is just a good oppertunity to make a first move into the direction

if that's her father then why not.. he has a financial obligation to her as well as u do...if he says no then take his sorry assssss to child support, she ain't 18 yet is she well even if she is 18 as long as she's in school she'll get child support...
let him know that this ain't bout his hatred for u, that this is about his daughter and that he needs to grow the hell up or have her call him and ask for it...

ask your daughter what she thinks. maybe she doesn't want anything to do with him and doesn't want to feel beholding to him. If he sends money it may mean contact somehow and she may not want to see him.and she does have the right to see him if she wants. and he may be wanting to break the ice between them..and this is a good way.

not to be mean, but no you shouldn't. if you haven't talked to him in that long, and you're going to be asking him for money, it's not going to end well at all. he will probably yell at you about that it's a bulls*** reason that it's for your daughter, and if your daughter doesn't even talk to him, then he's definately not going to give a penny towards it.

tricky one given the silence for so many years. but still he is her father. I would ask........or have your daughter call him and ask....after all she is the one needing the car....
all she would have to say is Hi daddy, its me, mom is going to help me get a car could you help with some money as well.
good luck........
the tax break is a very nice gesture as well...........
