According to Einstein's theories travelling foward in time is possible but travelling backwards is not. Not the other way around. I think it's pretty much accepted that if you could travel fast enough (ie close to the speed of light) you would be able to travle to the future, but most scientists don't believe the reverse is possible. But it's not time travel in the sci-fi sense where you're in some alternately existing future, it's time travel based on the fact that time is relative to the observer. If you were travelling close to the speed of light time would appear to pass normally to you, but to observers your time would appear to be slower. So basically the world around you would be going in fast foward and you would not be, so when you stopped the world would have appeared to have aged while you have not.

We are all traveling to the future all the time! Very slow, of course, but it's theoretically possible to do it faster... Problem is... You can go back only 24 hours: if you travel around Earth in a given direction (I don't remember which), you'll arrive to your departure point one day "before", even you accomplish your schedral in full time, because of hourly time shifts drawn around the globe.
Why is Einsten's hypothesis understood here in two absolutely opposite ways?

Not only is time travel possible. I think it has already occured. There are many secrets that our government does not want the general public to know about, for fear of disapproval. If you have an entire country full of angery people, there is no knowing what they will do.

Yes. We move forward at a constant rate at all times. Some people practice astral projection into other times, but I've never been able to do it.
There was this story of a school teacher walking the grounds of the palace at Versailles when she saw a flock of shepherdesses go into a little cottage for tea. It turns out Marie Antoinette and her friends used to do that for fun. Food for thought.

Theoretically its possible, there r theories how u can do it. But practically u cant time travel. Cos there is no past to go back, its over and there is not future u can go cos its not happened yet.

If you fly from Sydney, Australia and travel west (perhaps to America) you can arrive in USA before you left Sydney. Yes then...I suppose you could count that as time travel.

There are various hypothetical "Time Machines" that are, in fact, consistent with Einstein's General Theory of Relativity. To learn more about these look into Kip Thorne. His non-technical book,
"Black Holes and Time Warps, Einstein's Outrageous Legacy"
deals with these topics.

No I don't think so, I think that's just in fantasy movies. Maybe time isn't real. Maybe life is all in our heads and I'm imagining this whole thing. Maybe you're reading something different to what I've written. Anyway back to time travel. No probably not.

Einstein said time travel is possible but only backwards since time to come is not defined... this brings an interesting paradox... since you came back and the future doesn't exist you can never go back to your future time because when you arrive to the past the future ceases to exist .....

There's been some controversy on how if you travel back in time then come to the moment when you were absent because you were back in time, you will disappear... freaky huh?
