4) You can recognize redox (red(uction) + ox(idation)) by looking for oxygen (obviously), hydrogen, halogens, and metals. So almost everything. Infact, any chemical reaction can be a redox reaction, if you analyze the construct by electron transfer processes. Generally though, for bio purposes, is to look for metals coupled with oxygen (Cr2O7, MnO4, etc...) and anything in which a hydrogen is transfered.
