I'm currently 37.5 weeks with my first baby. My OBGYN wants to induce labor at 39 weeks due to my gestational diabetes, but I don't feel it's necessary. I just had an ultrasound that showed the baby was actually small for how far along I am, so macrosomia is not an issue, and I'm not having any other health problems. Is there a reason that they should induce when I haven't even reached my due date, or should I throw a fit?

tell your doctor that you do not wish to be induced, she knows best

I wouldn't. Without doubt the little one is still in there for a motive. It's exclusive if you are past due. However to do it a week forward for no reason is kinda pointless. I can handiest inform you how magical and special it's to enter labor on you possess. I did not get the danger with my first two. My daughter was once 10 days late and my son had a heart arrhythmia. So I was once caused with both. But my 0.33 labor started on it is own with my water breaking. IT used to be an extraordinarily exciting expertise that i wouldn't trade for some thing. So as any person who has done it both methods, i might propose you just let nature take it can be course and let your physique work as it can be presupposed to. It'll be whatever you're going to on no account disregard. I am not speakme in regards to the agony. :)

Keep in mind that the ultrasounds give an approximate weight not the actual weight. I had my daughter at 39 weeks and also had gestational diabetes. On the ultrasound the doctor said she looked about 7 and half pounds when in fact she was 9 pounds 8 and half ounces. Your doctor knows what is best for you and your baby trust him/her. Godd Luck and Congrats!!!

Both my labors were induced because of blood pressure problems. The second was planned early to keep me from getting into problems. Along as the baby is ready I don't have a problem with it.

They want to induce labor so that they are in control and can for-see and take care of any problems that may or may not arise. I have health issues and have been induced with all of my pregnancies. Best to be safe than sorry.

Most people beg their Doctor to induce them. You're a lucky one!

Your doc knows best...dont be foolish....obviously there is a need to be concered since you have GD....your already considered full term...be induced...let your fears go and just pray for your baby's safe arrival

My doctors are kepping an eye on me my blood pressure has been slightlyyyyy elevated(not eough to induce just yet) but enough for me to take a non stress test every week....and he tells me if it continues this way he may induce at 38 weeks....i've read stories of women who waited and gave birth to a stillborn or hemorraged so bad they can never have children...or siezed so bad they had a stroke or a heart attack...trust me when it comes to high risk pregnancies YOU DOC KNOWS BEST!!!!

I'll give you a reason, because they all think their GODS!!! My doctor scared me witless and insisted I be induced and when that didn't work, he insisted I have a c-section telling me my baby wasn't gonna weigh more than 5 pounds and it was in distress, while all the nurses thought he'd lost his mind. Needless to say, she weighed 6 lbs 10 ounces. 5 pounds my foot. They can charge more money for a c-section and they can schedule it on THEIR time as opposed to you messing up their vacation or their good night sleep. Its a ploy, every dang one of them uses it and it has absolutely nothing to do with your baby being in danger (unless you have evidence there is a problem). I would flat out refuse it and tell them the baby will come when its ready. Its a way for them to make more money as well as the anestheologist, the hospital and everyone else that sends you a freaking bill.

Your doctor isn't going to suggest an induction unless they felt it was necessary. you may feel fine now but if somethign happens on the 40th week adn it gets too late then what.

39 weeks is a very safe time to have your labour induced so don't worry there. Your due date is 40 weeks so its fine.

Good luck

ask him the pros and cons of inducing early. i had gestational diabetes and was induced on my due date, it was also baby #6. being induced isn't all that bad. you should really get a more detailed answer from the dr as to why he is suggesting induction

I don't want to scare you, but babies sometimes will die in utero in diabetic women near the end of term. I had a friend who this happened to. Let the doc induce if he thinks it is best. 39 weeks is really considered full-term anyway.

Get a second opinion, and if your doctors are wrong, then throw the fit! But don't let them induce you until you get a 2nd opinion by another OB!
