I think times are changing fast-CEO of walmart, Kellog are hispanic just to name a few-I understand that corporate America is still primarily white, but i seen so many changes I think tht the idea of White America is becoming a memory. I think we will see a non white president within the next 50 yrs as well. I am not saying this is a bad thing by the way-just taking notice of changes and am wondering what the rest of you think

I believe corporate America is dominated by the best and brightest. I believe the fastest runners win every race. I believe the strongest people can lift the most weight. I believe the richest people have the most opportunities.

The truth is that in a competitive world, the best usually(but not always) rise to the top. That is part of what makes America great.

There is the issue of lack of opportunity for Hispanics and Asians and the issue of racial discrimination. Those who find a way to work past that will succeed no matter what their origins.

Currently, not only corporate America is dominated by whites, it is dominated by Anglo men. Those who think today the cream rises to the top is being very naive. We are what we are. It is more than discrimination but also a deeply well entrenched social system we lived in for a long time. It affects not only ethnic but along gender lines as well. The good thing is our society is changing, ever so slowly. We made a lot of progress in the last 20 years. The fact that we can have open and healthy discussions like this is proof.

I hope someday, we can have true equality. We have Rice and Powell in some of the most powerful positions in the world. We are beginning to see more female executives in key positions. However currently only 12.3% are in the fortune 500 companies and an even lower (6.2%) in overall corporate America officer positions. Until this well entrenched Anglo group of male power brokers gradually moves on through retirement will we see the process speeds up. I don't think it will take 50 years though.
