My corn has shed her skin in pieces, she used to shed in one unbroken skin. Should I be worried about this? She is a year old, this is the first time this has happened since she was a hatchling! Any advice would be great, thanks.

It is normal, what you can do is put a water bowl with luke warm water in it, I use to work at a pet shop and all the snakes would curl up in the water bowl when they shed, makes it easier to shed the skin

This is normally called a "Dry Shed". You might need to spray her cage/her with water daily to make sure it is moist enough to prevent this. Also, once you notice she is going into shed either spray her a few times a day with water or soak her in luke warm water to losen the shedding skin. This isn't something to be too worried about unless her eye caps haven't shed off yet. If that happens, you can rub some snake oil on her eyes to help losen the skin. But, don't try to peel the skin off her eyes if it's not ready and don't use any objects to get it off either. You could damage her eyes! You can also use the snake oil over her entire body if you wanted to, but it gets messy. Hope this helps...

Humidity may be too low,try spraying the viv during shed or when you notice the eyes have gone cloudy and then back to normal soak it in a warm bath for 5 mins and it should shed in one piece within 24 hours, just make sure they eye sockets have come away as you can have problems if they dont.

When I had a snake just before she was due to shed her eye caps would go milky and then green, when this happened I would spray her with water in a plant mister once a day and make sure the viv was nice and humid. Mind you, she was really lazy and wouldn't soak herself. Maybe your corn hasn't been soaking either, try spraying next time.

You could try spraying the tank more to up the humidity in her habitat to about 65-80%. If she is dry you may want to soak her. Since corn snacks are smaller you only need a shallow bowl. Place her in room temp water for a little bit to add more moisture to her body. Don't force her to stay in the bowl. Just place her in there to let her know that its there. Broken sheds aren't un-normal for a growing snake.

Up the humidity a wee bit next time she's due a shed. No problem she was just probably a bit too dry. Just check her eyes have shed okay as they can get a build op of cells over their eyes which can cause problems.

Thats not a problem but if she has any unshed pieces left you could just gently soak them with a piece of cotton-wool soaked in some warm water to moisten them off. Don't peel them because likely her skin is dry and that could injure her.
