Lazy jerks, why waste someone's time in writing a cover letter, adjusting resume and such just so they can write you back and say "The position has been filled." Why can't they just delete the ad?

The United Nations is one organization that advertises a job posting, when they've already either filled up the post or already has a person eyed for the position. They will issue a circular announcing the job opening, but in fact someone else is already in line for the job. Sometimes they make it a "formality" and go through the whole interview process even -- with the candidates not knowing that they don't stand a chance because the post has been earmarked for somebody else already.

Many companies do that. They do that to show that they gave people an equal chance to apply for the position. They would have already filled the position or have someone who they have in mind. Yup, it is frustrating to apply for a position and be told that the position is already filled.

Awwww poor baby. Yeah, it's because of the press agency. If they paid it to run for 5 days then the agency will run it for 5 days. Although, it can be deleted out of the paper/ad if they payee requests it but yeah, they're lazy or they forgot to do it.

Maybe they will get more resumes to keep on file. Maybe it's a timing issue. Maybe that's just what they tell people. Maybe job isnt filled, that's just what they tell people.

I understand your frustration. I think they're doing it just to get our hopes up.
Nevertheless, best of luck on your job search.
