well now that you have been well educated in the meaning of the word prefix with relations to language, I will offer you another definition(which your teacher may not approve of):
Prefix: to prefix an event such as cricket, boxing, horse racing, one is committing a crime by deciding and ensuring before the event , what the outcome will be, usually for monetary gains.

A prefix is an addition to a word to alter the meaning of the root word. "Pre" meaning before and "fix" to attach.
Examples of prefixes are: un-, -re-, de-, over-, under-, ir-, im-, etc.
If you take a verb e.g. develop you can create many new meanings by adding a prefix e.g. undeveloped, redevelop, overdevelop etc etc...
Get the idea?
