why is it men love football so much, i mean its on my telly every night. how would i wean a man off it?

I'm a minority male... I don't like watching professional football because it looks fake... How can someone who is paid £100,000 a week miss a pass to his team mate and give it to the other team? I enjoy playing football and i love watching pub teams playing... Because they give their all and have a damn good match... Professionals... I can't justify the HUGE amounts of money they get for not being as good as some unknown people playing for fun... Men may hate me for saying this but i don't care... Someone getting £100,000 a week shouldn't miss.

Am not a guy, but the answer to this question can be summed up in the famous quotation by Bill Shankly in the Times in 1981 where he said " Some people think that football is a matter of life and death...I can assure you it is much more serious than that!"
If you love this guy, don't try to "wean him off it". Nothing comes between a man and his footy. Try to develop an appreciation of it at least. It is a beautiful game. And failing all else, (when the match is over) if you want to get his attention, buy some lingerie in his club's colors!!

The actually thing is the game of football is the game played by the pure management and with the dimenssion of winning at any cost and it is full of excitement and action at all time so thats the reason man likes the football and i like it to and even womens like the football. U can also try taking interest in this game.

Men love it as much as any female does. I know I love my football but it is turning more into a business than a sport but nevertheless I still love it.
Who are you to wean him off it? It is his hobbie so leave him too it, has he ever tried to wean you off one of your favourite hobbies??? Why don't you just indulge him and try and understand the game and try to understand why people love it so much! That is the least you could do as I can bet he has never tried to change you!

I like the game but hate the fact that it is rammed down our throats through various tv channels all the time. Its got to the stage where I rarely watch any live games on tv but instead watch my team at the stadium.
If you want to wean him off it a parrallel would be to just give him his favourite food at every meal and see how quickly he gets bored with it. (sorry if that sounds sexist - it wasn't meant to be)

If he's a real fan, l would say that it's more or less impossible unless he finds something that overtakes his interest. Better him being at home watching telly than finding some interest away from home (without you).
