Neither did FDR or about half of the leaders of the free world. I don't think you are implying that FDR, a raging liberal would support fascism.

The tiny Vatican city-state, in the middle of Rome, Italy, was between the rock and the hard place under Mussolini's fascist regime. Spain and Germany were also under Fascist dictators and there was no viable support for the Vatican from anyone in the world, including the United States. Roman Catholics were persecuted almost as much in parts of the U.S. at that time as Jews and blacks were. What should the Pope do, send his Swiss Guards to attack Mussolini's tanks with their halberds?

Besides, the Vatican, like many other nations, including Great Britain and the United States, had to make a hard choice, and they were really more fearful of the threat of Communism than of Fascism. Finland fought the Germans tooth and nail until they realized that Russia was even a greater threat, and then Finland's army formed the north flank of Germany's Panzer attack on Russia.

The Russian Communist threat finally subsided years later, largely through the efforts of President Reagan, Polish union organizer Lech Walesa of Gdansk (Danzig) Poland and Pope John Paul II (who had opposed Russian Communism in his youth in the Polish underground).

Look up the history of Danzig and its place in WWII. You'll learn a BUNCH of history.

becausa

the commmunistas - communists would have used it a leverage to take over the government -- governments in western europe teetered to commies after the war. Great care was taken not to cause any more pain and instability. The great enemy after the war was the commie - in the media unions - special interest groups - political parties

Thats a very good question. Christian bias is very dangerous, and WW2 proved why. So did the inquisition.
