As others have stated, Astrology is the study and belief that the positions of the stars, sun, moon and planets at the moment of your birth have an effect on your personality and that the position of those same heavenly bodies thought your life will determine your destiny and future.
In addition, Astrology was also the forerunner of Astronomy. Back in the days of Ptolemy and Aristotle, there was little to no difference between Astrology and what we would come to know as Astronomy. It was not until the Renaissance and the introduction of logical thought and the scientific method that Astronomy and Astrology parted ways forever.

It is fortune telling based on the positions of the planets. Some other kinds of fortune telling are based on the lines on your had, which cards are drawn from a deck or what the tea leaves in your cup look like.

Phil Plait has the goods, see link below.
What is astrology?:
"Astrology is wrong.
I wanted to put that first, just so we're clear, and to make sure you're paying attention. I'll repeat it later, too."

Studying the movements of the planets (millions of miles away) in the hope that you can figure out how they affect your life.
Have you ever tried a search engine by the way? Or a dictionary? Or wikipedia?

I wonder if sub-atomic particles, yet to be discovered, are emitted by the various planets, moon and Sun, and if so, can they impact your DNA or characteristics at the time of birth?
