I asked a question about a month ago about being treated for endo with birth control. I began spotting and it continued for three weeks. Dr. said that I am not responding to the birth control as it was prescribed and she scheduled a laporoscopy and DNC October 5th. She said that she will cartarize anything she see's in there.
What should I expect?

I had a laporoscopy to remove my appendix 5 years ago...and it was not a fun procedure...could be the appendix part of it??

Please give me any ideas, hints, ways to get relief and actually relax while off from work. Oh, could I be at risk of being infertile?

Lots of questions....Thanks Ladies!

I apologize if this is spelled all wrong...spell check didn't give me the "hook up". :)

That's D and C which stand for dilatation and curettage. The cervix is opened with rods that gradually increase in size. The uterine lining is then scraped to be sure nothing that shouldn't is clinging there. The laparoscopy will be a scope inserted into the abdomen to look for endometiral or uterine lining that has escaped the uterus and implanted in the abdomen. These sites will be cauterized or burned. You will probably have some discomfort for a few days but it should help with your problem.

I had laporoscopy for endo also. The surgery was not to bad I had pain the first day and was just a little sore a couple of day after that. The lapo did not help me at all but I had a very sever case of endo and ended up getting a hysterectomy for it plus I had other problems as well. The surgery is for the most part a big help to woman. The doctor will give you pain meds after surgery so you should be ok since it's not that painful of a surgery.. Good Luck.

I'm going to an OBGYN to check for signs of endometriosis in about a month. I've done some research on it since my doctor recommended the test.

I don't know what the laproscopy will be like for you, but my understanding is that it would actually increase your chances of getting pregnant because the uterine lining in Endometriosis can block the way for sperm to get to your egg, and they'd be clearing that out.

As far as relaxing and pain treatment goes. Hot packs are good, but also, so is meditation (simple breathing techniques). That's because pain is a physical and emotional experience, the meditation helps to at least deal with the emotional side of it.

Good luck, I hope it goes well for you!
