It's the cheese. Cheese contains tyramine, a derivative of the amino-acid tyrosine. Tyramine is neuroactive, apparently a noradrenaline and adrenaline receptor agonist - meaning it stimulates the same brain pathways as adrenaline and noradrenaline. This, in addition to making your heart race, etc., also makes your dreams more vivid if you eat shortly before going to bed.

The old wives tale is it's because of the spices..and because it's heavy..and anything spicy or heavy just before bed gives you nightmares...not sure that's ever been proved to be true scientifically...but?...I suppose a full tummy can be a restless one hours later, and that could disturb your sub-conscience while sleeping and cause a nightmare or strange dream or two...
That is only an instant hypothesis of mine though..lol...don't hold that to much scrutiny.
