I'm talking about the accusation from a Bloomberg reporter saying that she heard Cherie Blair say "That's a Lie" when referring to a part of the Chancellor's speech

All of a sudden it has completely dominated the news agenda completely overshadowing Browns speech forcing Cherie to deny the allegation. Doesn't this demonstrate the power that the media has these days and shouldn't something be done about it?

The electorate are too ignorant to realise that media 'spin' is far more pernicious than political spin.

When a politician tries to spin no one believes them. However, people take the garbage they read in the tabloids at face value.

It's just politics and a free press situation. They, the Bloombergers of this world, would like to see an end to Labour. Everyone knows that infighting within a political party leads ultimately to it's downfall and is a big turn off for most people. If Cherie Blair said "that's a lie", why was she not thrown out of the meeting? Isn't this what the Labour Party Gestapo usually do?

yes the media is very strong now and in a way it is good because they tell you things you wouldn't know otherwise but on the other hand they shouldn't be in a position whereby they can sway public opinion to the detriment of our way of living or as in the case of what your saying about Cherie Blair. its like the USA media and a gentleman connected there is also connected here so I guess it follows

I think Cherie Blair did it deliberately, knowing her comment would swamp Brown's speech in to-morrow's press. Then,of course, she denied it,but the damage is done.I also suspect it was planned with the Liar she is married to.

Absolutely, but it's up to the masses themselves to change this. People should look at smaller news sources, such as independent companies and blogs...as long as people continue to buy the big media business's papers and subscribe to their sites, it's not going to change.

As long as you believe the media has unchecked power, it does. As long as you believe the media controls our thoughts and influences our behavior, it does.

What the thinker thinks, the prover proves.

God - who cares! The media should be reporting policy. OR current events. This isn't news.

Not surprising, the three main parties are very much the same, so little of what they say is news.
