Should we ban dangerous dogs after that little baby was torn to bits in that pub.OK we put them down afterwards, but don't you think that's a little too late. The baby's dead?
Do we licence them? Muzzle them or ban them all together
What do you think?

It wasn't the owner it was the owners father and girlfriend. The girlfriend died but this happened on Saturday and had nothing to do with the attack

I know not all Rotti's are vicious and even soome Jack russels are more vicious then them. But if it came down to it I would rather be bitten by a Jack russel than a Rotti.

i don;t think there is any bad dogs just bad owners. if you know that your dog might be a threat then don't take it to a public place. common sense will tell you that. plus you never know how an animal is going to react and if you don't have total control over it then you take the chance of you or someone Else getting hurt

Somebody has to be accountable for these dogs and although they have been destroyed this is not the end off this i wouldn`t be happy until i could point the finger at somebody .
Not all Rotties are dangerous but we only hear about the rotties and the other odd attacks , Rotties were in the limelight in 1990 when that little girl from Scotland was killed by 2 of them , they had her by the throat . but i have to say as being a rottie owner for 13 yrs (Kassie was put to sleep when her back end went she was 13 ) i never ever had any problems with mine or my brother in laws rottie , they were lovely dogs and my Kassie had the most beautiful nature and i know for a fact even tho i have a lab now i will never be blessed with any other type dog with the same nature . We had her before our babies were born and she didnt bat an eyelid . I think people get these dogs from pups knowing what their capabilities are and they want too look cool with a rottweiler but its just not fair on the dog , maybe a special licence for so called dangerous dogs ....Rottweilers do need specialist training from pups as they are in built guards and very defensive . I f you say pecking order to a rott it would probably pee on you , they feel they are superior and in some cases they are and this is what happens . They need to be handled by someone who knows what they are doing they`re not your standard pet dog they are dominant dogs and should be handled with respect .

Owners fault, I think its about time we had licences for dogs now, some people have no idea how to look after a dog and they should be vetted very carefully in front of a licensing committee before they are allowed to get a dog, who would leave a 5 month old baby near two guard dogs, our dog plays with two Rottweiler's everyday and they are just pussycats simply because they have a brilliant owner who had trained them properly, it is never the dogs fault but always the owners.

No, I don't think you should ban them, dogs can not distinguish, if they are trained as guards dogs, between a 5 month old baby and a burglar. At the end of the day, what parent leaves their 5 month old baby near 2 rotti guard dogs????? 9.9/10 its the owners fault

dangerous /fighting dogs are banned and all dogs by right need a licence but all dogs big or small have a bite that can inflict damage to young or old. it was a very sad thing that happened to that child but some of the responsibility must unfortunately rest with the parents for bringing the child into that environment knowing about the dogs.all dogs should be controlled / supervised around any child

personally i think its the owners,i love dogs and have nearly always owned one,but i have only owned a dog that i know i can handle so many people walk about with dogs as if it,s for their image or a fashion statement.i think maybe the owners of these dogs should be made to go to training classes,my son owns both a rotty and a staff and he is in complete control of them and they know it,they are really soft.the dogs you are talking about were guard dogs why????leave a 5 month baby with them, they will ask themselves this question for the rest of their lives.

It can't be the dog's fault because it doesn't know right from wrong necessarily, but it is the fault of the owner for not keeping the dog properly restrained.
IMO, dangerous dogs should be banned, period. They are unpredictable and do not make good pets irregardless of what current owners say. I've heard of these dogs attacking their owners.

I watched that on the news too. I think it's the dogs which need to be banned. Muzzles are ok, but lots of owners don't like them. I have lots of friends who like Staffies, and I think they're just as dangerous, yet they seem really popular. These dogs are good guard dogs, but I personally don't think they make good family pets.

It's the owner's fault, not the dog. I know that my dog does not like little kids. So if, for whatever reason, there are kids around, I lock my dog up, or put her on a leash and keep her really close to me. It's part of the responsibility of owning a dog.
