I need some advice on giving my 11 mo. old iced tea. I would rather him not have it but my husband doesn't see a concern about it and this discussion comes up alot. Would it be best to give him decaf with less sugar in it. Or is not something best to give an infant at all.

The only problems you would run into is him bouncing off the walls because of the caffeine. There's about as much sugar in tea than there is in juice, so that shouldn't matter. It's usually the caffeine that makes kids hyper, not the sugar. Unless, of course there is too much sugar then there needs to be. Also, keep in mind that caffeine doesn't always effect everyone.

I say, as long as he's not drinking it all day long, he should be fine. Limit 4 to 6 ounces a day.

Decaf and low sugar teas are better for small children. Tea actually has a lot of anti-oxidants in it so some given in extreme moderation could be good.

My little boy who is 11 months old drinks sweet tea all the time! Some of the juices u can by have more sugar than tea. So don't worry about it.

Don't give your baby iced tea. There is so much sugar and caffeine in it with no nutritional value at all. Even worse if you give the diet kind because of the artificial sweeteners. Stick to %100 fruit juice with vitamin C. You have to give him the best nutrition possible.

My son is 15 mos old and I never give him tea. If I did, I would definitely buy it unsweetened so I can be the one to decide how much sugar is going in to it. You don't want your child to get used to a lot of sugar in the tea, then you'll have to watch it with koolaid. Definitely dilute it with water.

It will not hurt to give him decaf with less sugar. My kids are five and two. There are brlliant children and healthy. This must be your first child. Good luck

Give him juice or water. He will have a life time to enjoy the tea(s) of his choice and the added sugar isn't good for him either.

Good Luck!

I don't see a problem with it.. Juice has about as much sugar as the tea does so what is the difference...

i've never given my 2 year old tea. but if you were going to, i'd say definately go with decaf (caffine might be too much for the baby's system) and i would also water it down.
