Your first mistake (and mine too, it took me many years to work through this), is thinking that you need to choose between science and religion. You don't. I believe in the big bang theory, and I believe in evolution. I also maintain a strong belief in god. My needs for a religion is to fulfill me in moments of weakness, not a something that dictates my thinking. You can feel good about your religion on an emotional level, and believe in science on an intellectual level. You can have both.

My friend, I can give you a lot of reasons why I believe there is a God the Father Almighty and why I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, but in the end the decision is up to you to believe in God or believe in science. There's no way that I can offer you 100% rock-solid proof that God exists, but I can point you to many writings and historical accounts other than the Bible that confirm the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, not to mention almost all the historical accounts of the Bible. I can also direct you to archaeological records from Mount Ararat and the Dead Sea that offer very strong proof of the existence of Noah's Ark and Sodom and Gomorrah, and to this day there are many cites in the city of Jerusalem that testify to the veracity of the Bible. But can I show you God the Father Himself? No.
You asked a very good question: If there is no God and there is no life after our time on Earth is over, then what do we live for? See, without God we have no hope, no purpose, no future, no NOTHING. I know many people say there is no god and religions are all based on legends that are designed to make us better people, but think about this: When it comes right down to it, human beings are selfish by nature. And it is out of selfishness that all the things we call evil are borne because we believe that we can do whatever we want. So how is it that we have any semblance of an ordered society instead of everyone living by the rule of survival of the fittest? How is it possible for us to be kind to each other and even help each other with no thought of personal gain? These things are against our very nature, so where did they come from? The answer is simple: They come from belief in something not seen; a higher power that has a personal hand in our design. They come from a faith in One who is bigger and better than us and has bigger and better things in store for us. We are not here by accident. We were not created by a big bang and a series of events that had to happen so perfectly and in exactly the right order that the statisical odds against human beings ever coming to exist is virtually impossible. We were created for a purpose, but we were also given the choice as to whether we would believe in Him who created us and the purpose for which we were created.
The choice is yours. If you want to see the accounts of "proof" that I mentioned earlier, just Google "Christian Evidences."
Remember, ask and it shall be added unto you; seek and ye shall find; knock and the door shall be opened unto you.

You can believe in God and Science. In fact, Quantum physics is the science that will prove the existence of God. (They're still working on it.) The Bible is a nice book, with some good moral stories, but you can't take the "creation" stories literally. No one was around at the beginning of the universe, so creation stories are just man's way of trying to explain how it all began. The story of Adam and Eve? Just a metaphor.
Many early religions didn't have hell or the devil in their traditions. Most think that the devil was created by Christians to scare us into being good. So I don't put any faith in the Bible. It was written by man, after all. I figure as long as you live your life in a good way, not doing any harm to yourself or others then all is good.

Don't worry about trivia. None of us was there at the Big Bang and however God created the universe it's just nice to know it was he who did it.
I would hate to think of anybody going to Hell but for some people it's necessary. If there is no Hell, then Hitler got away with it.
If there is no Heaven most of humanity die with lives ended too short, victims of brutality, subject to nastiness. Justice requires both.
The important thing is not a doctrine or an idea but a person, Jesus of Nazareth. If he rose from the dead then he can do the same for us. Trust him to do that for you and he will come inside and make your life something special.
People regret all sorts of religions and ideas, but no one has ever regretted a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Science is a way to use experimentation to help learn about the world. Religion offers a predetermined answer to every unknown about the world. Among other things, science has proven successful at debunking the claims of religious scam artists, saying they were selling "pieces of the true cross" and stuff like that. This doesn't mean that a true believer can't gain positive life experiences and motivation from their faith. Science was not created to combat religion, just to combat fraud and the unknown in general. They are completely different paths. If belief in religion doesn't work for you, then don't worry about it. You shouldn't be "scared" into believing, because then it won't motivate you to do anything but be scared.

Why can't you believe in both??? I respect a God who take his time (evolution) with the development of things. In the bible it states it took God six days to create everything. Well, how long is a day in the mind of God??? Twenty four hours seems a little small don't you think???
Finding a grand creator isn't the job of science. Science exists in order to explain how things work ,when they came on the scene etc;. It's up to the different religions and philisophies to figure out the WHO behind everything.
I beleive in God in a general sense and I believe he/she gave us these wonderful brains in order to explain how he/she accomplished the marvelous things we see in the universe. This is science...nothing more.

there are many ways u can do this u can chose a side or you can believe in both. I say don't take the bible so literally. you can still be biblical and still understand that there may be some scientific factor that may have caused an event in the bible to happen. Think of it like this.. in the bible god parts the red sea so the Israelites can leave Egypt well scientifically maybe it was a tsunami that parted the red sea and the Israelites were able to leave Egypt that way with gods blessing.

Before reading question-God
Scientists don't really know anything they can't prove, they just wnat to make you think they do, so the big bang theory would be false, hence the name theory
After reading, -God
heres something that should push you over the edge- if you believe in God and accept Him and Heaven really exists (for all intesive purposes, lets put it at a theory for the moment, even though I do believe it does exist), then you will go to Heaven. But, if it doesn't exist, then what have you lost. a safe bet is just to believe in God- win-win for you.

Believing in Heaven or hell is not the reason to go on living, Nobody and I mean nobody can be 100 percent certain if Heaven or hell exist. It's all faith, and faith is hope. I can't understand why people won't accept their mortality. The "Big Bang"? Well, maybe that's how God got everything in motion.

What does your heart say? If you don't feel comfortable and feel there's something more to God then believe in Science. Alternatively you could believe in God and Science. There's actually a theory that God is a type of matter. He was an energy force that began the world, but didn't make the world in terms of giving it light and that.
Just believe in what you want. Also you don't have to believe in them to have anything to live for. Just believe in yourself, and live for you.
