There are great face powders on the market now for browner skin tones. In the inexpensive price range, I would say L'Oreal True Match is very good. E.L.F. also has pressed powders in a few lighter brown colors (and they are only $1!). Avon's meet Mark line is also great for lots of colors and great quality.

In the mid-upper range, Sue Devitt, Iman, Real Cosmetics, Mally Beauty, MAC and Creme de la Mer have excellent color choices and great quality.

I just started using Maybelline's dream mousse foundation and it's wonderful. It makes such a difference but I can't even tell it's on. You know how some make up feels heavy? This one makes your face feel like you never had make up on!
It's great!
Wow, I feel like I was just in a commercial trying to sell the cosmetics... LOL!

I use CoverGirl loose powder in Tawny. It works pretty good by itself & gives good coverage when paired with a liquid foundation.
