This is a serious question. Can I be a democrat if I hold the following tenets?

Abortion is an abomination and should be illegal 99% of the time.

Welfare should be temporary and housing vouchers should exclude single-family homes. A home is something you should work for, not be given.

Affirmative action leads to greater incidences of failure.

I really do not give a crap about gay issues one way or the other. If they want to get married then let em. Besides, gay divorces would be funny as hell.

Where do I fit in politically?

Your views on the abortion issue will not be met by either party, for fear of a backlash - although the Republicans will talk the line - it is just to gain the vote of single-issue-voters. You know it's true. Democrats favor birth control and sex education. That's a faster route to fewer abortions, anyway.

Welfare is recognized as something that can be taken too far by both parties. Clinton certainly made cuts to welfare.

Affirmative action has led to progress, despite your view, and is not being pushed very much by either side.

If you aren't anti-gay, the Republicans don't want you.
Vote a straight Democrat ticket to find a Nation moving toward your wishes

You are issue orientated and some what disillusioned. All the issues that you bring forth to characterize your political views are anti-people politics except for the gay issue. You are liberal on that.

Welfare, how do you feel about corporate welfare? Affirmative Action, what would you do to insure that all Americans get a chance to better their lives. How do all people get access to a home or any other items that are necessary in today's world if jobs and education are not given out fairly?

Abortion, can you justify the government's role in determining who shall or shall not get an abortion. What constitution covers that?

Gay marriage is OK but gay divorce would serve as a type of entertainment for you. Yeah, you should run for office as a "decadent".

I would say you are a well adjusted American who is stuck with no party just like the rest of us. However based on your last three points I would say republican. The abortion issue is an overtrumped issue and both parties spout their garbage but no one with an IQ over 65 pays any attention. Just vote for the best person in a election and be ready to be called a Tree Hugging Hippified Dem or Corporate Puppet war mongering Rep. Because no matter where you fall, if someone disagrees with you, you will get attacked.

Well, this set of beliefs alone could not put you into either category. Ever heard of "Gay republicans" Trust me, they're out there. Or how about Republicans who believe in a "woman's right to choose"

How do you feel about the war in Iraq? Do you feel it was started for a just cause and should continue unabated?

Do you believe that the top 2% of Americans (those earning $200,000 per year or more), should receive large tax breaks?

Do you believe that under Republican leadership we are winning "The War on Terror" - the war without boundaries, the war without end. I know they are "trying", but what about sending 140,000 troops to a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11, and 20,000 to a country that had EVERYTHING to do with 9/11.
Or how about causing the Islamic extremists movement to grow with each dead body and every bit of carnage in Iraq.

Anyway, only you can answer what you are. I am not a Republican, but I do respect your views and they are also shared by many in my party.

You lean conservative, really conservative like me. Your interests would be better served by the independents, if they ever had a shot of getting elected. Since they don't you should vote Republican for the military and anti-terror aspect which is so important right now. The Dems will fail us in this aspect.
I actually find abortion to be an issue for the individual and should be legal, so you are more right winged than I am.

You can be either one; all you have to do is register.

That having been said, you'll probably see the particular issues you mentioned be handled to your liking by the Republicans more than the Democrats.

1. On abortion, you would either be a conservative either Democrat or Republican. There are not many conservative Democrats left.

2. Definitely a conservative Republican point.

3. Definitely conservative Republican

4. Not a conservative position. More liberal or libertarian.

I say that you are a conservative Republican.

You seem to lean towards the conservative or right side of the debate. The Republicans tend to be more right or conservative. So it looks as though you are more Republican. The "open minded" liberals that say Republicans hate people with different opinions will hate you for this.

With just these stances, minus the last stance on gay marriage, I would call you a Republican.

Where do you fit in? Busybody, basically.

You are no one to decide which 1% of abortion is "not" an "abomination".

The Govt. has no business deciding which one body is two bodies under the law.
