The Daily Express reckons that the current "white Stig" is Julian Bailey, a story that Top Gear have never confirmed or denied. The original "black Stig" was Perry McCarthy, though again, the makers of Top Gear have made no comment. Both men are (or were) F1 drivers, and clearly whoever he is, 'The Stig' has some kind of background in motor sport, if not in F1, some other class of racing.
