You are absolutely right. She may be lacking in the respect department. Technically if she did that without your consent, it would be a form of kidnapping, even though she's the Grandmother. I know you wouldn't really want to charge her with a crime, but I am just trying to demonstrate that society in general agrees with you. When it comes to deciding who has custody of the children parents trump grandparents every time.
Having said that, just remember that your baby needs "Grandma time" as much as he/she needs sleep, food, & a diaper change.
Try & work her in to your baby's schedule as much as you possibly can.
Cheers!

My first question to you is.. do you get along with this woman? She may have very good intentions.. not meaning to upset you.. but if that's not the case then my second question to you would be.. how well do you like this sitter and is she a licensed daycare? Most of the other people who answered are correct.. no one is allowed to remove your child from the sitters home without your permission.
When my children were little and in a licensed daycare.. we had a secret password that only the sitter and I knew. Then if I'd tell her or call her and say that my mom or his was going to pick up the kids.. the sitter wouldn't let my child go unless this other person knew the password. Because the sitter had no idea what my mom or mother in law looked like. Hope this helps!

You should tell you baby sitter that she is not aloud to just take you child, that you need to be called to see if it is ok. Just because she is the grandmother does not give her the right to just come and take your child from the person you chose to watch them when ever she wants. If your babysitter is letting her take you child with out knowing whether or not you gave your permission, then I would consider looking for a new one. I would also sit down with your boyfriends mom and talk with her about how you feel when she does this type of thing and see if you can work something out if not tell your babysitter that if they let her take you child again without your permission then you will look for a new baby sitter. I watch three kids and the only person they leave with is the person that drops them off unless the parent tells me different that is just common sense. Hope this helps you

Your boyfriend's mother cannot take your child without your permission - it's against the law. I'd inform your babysitter of this, as well. Would she let ANYONE take your child if they showed up and asked?
The mother is not respecting your rights as a parent and, again, she's breaking the law - it's essentially kidnapping.
Have you talked to your boyfriend about this? Do you live together? Is he giving permission to his mother ot pick up your baby?
It's definitely not right. If I show up to pick up my daughter and she's not where she's supposed to be, I'm having a panic attack and calling the police - I don't care who took her. If it is without my knowledge, you better believe that person is answering to me and the law.
It's a tough situation you're in - caught between the boyfriend and the boyfriend's mom (grandma). But, you are the only person who will stand up for your kids 100% of the time. If you feel that this isn't right - put a stop to it immediately...no matter how difficult it may be to do. Have you tried talking to the mother? Maybe offering more time with your baby? I'd consider myself lucky if my baby's grandmother wanted to spend so much time with her. Maybe this is a blessing for you - give the grandma more time with your baby and take some time for yourself and your boyfriend. Maybe she's just trying to be helpful, but is completely ignorant as to how best to do that...
Either way, good luck!

She needs to ask you first and in the state that I live in if the Sitter lets the baby go someone other than you with out a note saying that it is okay then they can get shut down and sued, They should have a pick up list that only allows the people that you say is okay to pick him/her up and if you wanted to you could tell them that she is only allowed to pick up your child when either you call or leave a note with them in the morning. Best of Luck, And yes I would be pissed also!

Yes, she must ask you first. If she takes the baby without your permission, that's called kidnapping. The babysitter should be informed that his mom is not allowed to take the baby, without your permission. You should make out a list for the babysitter, listing all the people who are authorized to take the baby and names, addresses, phone #s in case there is an emergency. If someone other than those approved poeple try to take the baby, the babysitter should call the police and report it as an attempted kidnapping.

For one I would fire the sitter. She is required by law to have your permission to let the child go with anybody other than his legal parents.
Second, you need to politely tell the grandmother that as much as you appreciate her presence in the child's life you will not tolerate her taking the child without prior approval. You don't owe her or anybody any explanation you just tell it like it is and if they don't like it then too bad. It is her problem, don't let it be yours. This is your child!

She has no right to take the baby from the person you choose to care for the baby. You'd better tell her to back off before there's real problems with the law. And you have the right to call the police.

The babysitter shouldn't let your baby leave with anyone but you! What kind of babysitter is that? I would seriously change sitters, and tell them that no one gets your baby but you.
