Well if we look at what happend in the past between the original xbox and the ps2 we can see alot. The xbox was a far better machine, and was well thought out for the end user. The ps2 on the other hand was a much crappier machine many of which needed to be repaired and replaced(I'm sure you know someone this happend to) and if you wanted a hard drive you had to buy it as an add-on. The xbox's hard drive was included with all x-boxs. Also if you wanted to play online the ps2 again required you to purchase additional hardware and again the xbox was ready to go with no need to buy anything. The one the playstation did have over the xbox was software. There where a great many games that were very good that could only be played on the ps2 and wouldn't be released for the xbox.
I think when deciding what system to get look at it this way. This was microsofts first console system, and they made sony look foolish despite the years sony had already had to be established. The only thing the ps2 had over the original xbox was the number of quality games available for the ps2. Microsoft proved themselves to be intuitive and very thoughtful in their console system design. Sony again, after all the talk is done, will just have a second rate system that is operating on borrowed time.

I'm afraid i have to correct drburns. He said that the 360 is built sturdy but the 360 has had a lot of problems from the start. The 360 has had a re-call due to overheating and systems red lighting due to the fact that they didn't build a simple fan into the system to start with. The 360 is made in America and everyone knows that all the best electronics come from Japan and china, just look on anything that uses power in your home and it will say made in Japan or china, not America. The 360 does not support a full 1080, there is an upgrade that you can get that will put it at a full 1080. You have to buy to much extra crap for the 360 that when your done getting a hd DVD drive and a wire-less network adapter card you will have spent just as much as you would have on a PS3. The PS3 come ready to go right out of the box with a wire-less network card and blue-tooth as well as the 1000.00 blue ray disk player. The PS3 is going to swallow up the 360 come November.

I think both will be great, but I think 360 is better. Sony makes hardware that is designed to break right when the warranty expies, and Microsoft makes their stuff very sturdy. Both 360 and PS3 are verty powerful, and the experts say that their processing power overall is a draw.

Both PS3 and Xbox 360 output in a mind-boggling 1080p HD signal. This was an issue for a lot of Sony fanboys to brag about...until Microsoft announced last week that 360 is capable of 1080p already but didn't announce it. They had the capability all along and let Sony make butts of themselves. This, my friends, is called playing smart.

Sony uses Blu-Ray discs. Whoop dee doo. Just watch, this format will go the way of the Sa-CD, Minidisc, and the BetaMax. All were abysmal failures. In other words, another propietary format from Sony that will fail.

The bottom line is that it's about the games. Microsoft's one-year head start (along with Sony asking WAY too much for the PS3) may be the difference this time around.

XBox 360 is better for 2 reasons. One it is available now and will have more software developed for it like the PS2 had before the original XBOX came out. Two I have read reviews of the new games and graphics for the PS3 and they said they look weird, one quote was the players in the NBA sim said the player hovered on the court and the Cars in Test Drive also hovered.

I would have to say the PS3.

The XBox 360 is available now but when the PS3 is released in Japan in November it will rule!

PS3. It's a hefty price but it is also a blue-ray disc player, backwards compatible with PS2 games and for the moment, nothing extra to buy to play immediately.
