I'm not thinking about trying it for fun, just settling a debate here...

Not unless you touch another wire at a different potential.
However, if you were hanging out of a live power line, and you came close or touch another power line of different potential, the power could short circuit through you (arking).

oh definitely. Once the power lines are in contact with ur body, small chance u wun get shocked. n power lines generate very high electricity current that could prove to be fatal. If you are not grounded, all the more you will be shocked coz grounding will send the eectricity current to the ground instead of your body.Man. u will create a shocking news if u tried that.

Not unless you touch another wire (at a different potential).

-----------edit-------------
Line repair men do this all of the time. Either they sit in a plastic bucket or they hang from a helicopter.

---edit2---
It is not true that power lines have a high current; they actually have a low current (to lower I squared R power losses).

If you are grounded, current flows through your body (across your heart) to the ground. If both your hands are at the same voltage, current will not flow (except for a small surge current when your body is initially charging up) since it requires a DIFFERENCE in voltage to make electrons to flow from the high voltage to the low voltage.

NO! you can't from my understanding. they use helicopters in some places to work on the lines for that very reason. I think you could hang on one, but I'm no power expert.

sorry theres is no debate...its a fact ...u need to be grounded to get the shock of your life.

Please don't test this assumption. It maybe true that electricity need a complete circuit to flow, however it will try it's damnedest to complete the circuit , and then your a goner.
