Depends who you ask. Most of the rest of the world, burning for sure. It's one of the most common images on television to see the US flag go up like a marshmallow roast in some foreign land. And I'm not just talking about our "enemies". Many flag burnings have taken place in countries such as Britain, France and Pakistan, and not all of the participants were Muslim.

As Americans we "enjoy" the freedom to do either. I find it reprehensible that any American would choose to desecrate their flag, regardless of political beliefs or affiliations. But I stand for their constitutional right to assert their beliefs if they choose to show such immaturity.

We are Americans first, and politicians second.

Hey Shiraz: Bush lied: thousands died. Bush deceived, America bleeds. (not quite a rhyme technically but close)

I am a Democrat, and a decorated American Vietnam veteran, and I enjoy Raising the American Flag respectfully.

I enjoy raising the flag and would never burn one but am glad we live in a country where we have the freedom to do either.

Both are weird. I like designing my own flag, then raise it while burning. Confuses the heck out of people, and you can do it anew every day without anyone coming to gun you down.

Raising.

I'm no longer a Democrat. It's hard to believe Kennedy, Durbin, Kerry, etc. really are patriotic, after they accused the military of the worst crimes.

PS. Interesting how you got two sets of answers - those who preferred raising the flag more, and those who didn't really answer the question. You didn't mention what's legal, just what people preferred.

I enjoy the freedom it provides. I don't get caught up in worshiping symbols, only what they stand for.

Because I'm Democrat.

I really don't care that much. I thought the whole reason we separated from England to start with was so we wouldn't have to swear allegiance to a flag.

I'm a liberal, and I love my nation. I love our flag too.

However, we have rights in our free nation. One of those is called freedom of expression. That includes flag burning. Sorry.
