I'm 18 weeks pregnant, and for the past couple of days I have been having pains in my tailbone area . . has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? . . My mom said that I will probably carry my baby low, which is what's causing this pain . . is that true, or just something she made up?? . . any suggestions as to what I can do to ease the pain??

my lower back hurt for months, they baby can be putting pressure on that part of your back and it could be your horomones that put our a secretion to help lubricate your joints and help to spread your hips and butt!!! As far as I know nothing relived my lower back pain.

I completely understand your lower back pain. I suffer from chronic pain including lower back pain in my lumbar spine. This is a result of RSD and Fibromyalgia along with other medical conditions. So reading your symptoms and how bad your pain is, I think that you might have something going on that needs to be detected by an MRI. I think you should see a back specialist. I think this because you say you didn't fall and it hurts when you bend over and sneeze. i would have for you to suffer like this any further. I really do hope you will get an appointment with a specialist soon. It is really the best way to find out if there is a pinched nerve, a herniated disc, mild arthritis in your lower spine (as they've told me), or something that can be easily treated. I sincerely do hope you feel better soon and that you can find some relief from your pain. I hope that I was able to help in some way.

It's probably the way your baby is sitting on certain nerves. The most common pain in that area is Sciatic Nerve pain. It hurts like the dickens. And unfortunately, if it is Sciatic pain, it doesn't go away until after delivery. It's harmless to your baby, just a pain in the butt (literally) for you.

Sometimes stretching it out can help, but really there's not much you can do to make it feel better.

Keep in mind that as your baby grows your body is making changes to accomidate your baby.Your baby may be pressing on a nerve which is causing you pain. You may even experience numbness or shooting pains its called sciatica.Look it up and see if it sounds like what your experiencing. You might want to try heating pad or laying different ways to ease the pain or discomfort.I wish you luck.Hopefully it goes away cause you have a while left in your pregnancy.Try rocking on your hands and knees to allieviate the possible pressure on your back.

I had pain in my tailbone with my son 4 years ago and again this time around (14 1/2 weeks in). I have heard that it could be because you are carrying low. I have also heard it because the baby is sitting on a nerve, because my hips started to spread really early and put pressure on my tailbone and because I sit to much at my desk job. laying on my side with a pillow between my knees and walking seem to ease it some.

I have had tailbone pain with both of my pregnancies. I asked my doctor about it and he said that some women's tailbones go from the normal crescent shape that is cushioned by our butt, to a straight and spread out shape that is quite painful. It just happens to some of us. Try taking tylenol when the pain is really bad and avoid the types of chairs that cause you to hurt. To alleviate the pain you can try a doughnut pillow. I didn't have one of those, but I had a boppy nursing pillow and it works pretty well for me. Good luck with it!

Yes, your tailbone and your hips will hurt. It's normal.

I never found any relief for the pain except changing positions and sitting in a recliner.

You really should ask your Dr. I only had pain in my tailbone when I broke it (got thrown off a horse). I get pain now and then from it but not when i am pregnant.
