My mom had hers done when she was 65. I think it looks great on her. I would do it myself but I like changing what color that my eyes will look like every day.

One of my aunts has had it done. She recently passed the year mark with it. While she seemed outwardly very happy with it, she confided to my mother that she wished she listened to my mother, who told her not to have it done.
There are many reasons to not have this procedure done.
First, you run the risk of infection and allergic reaction to materials used, as with any tattoo. This can be particularly dangerous because of the proximity to the eye. Also, as with any tattoo, it may become faded or discolored over the years. As previously mentioned, as the skin around the eye starts to sag, it may become displaced. Fixing the eyeliner would take more time, money, and pain. Removing it after having it done would also be costly and maybe even ineffective. Even the best tattoo removers sometimes run into tattoos that leave discoloration behind. It is a body modification that you will never be able to undo entirely. And with something as fickle as fashion, permanence does not seem like the correct route to take.
Getting the three year solution is not an easy answer, either. Most reputable tattoo artists will tell you that there is no permanent tattoo that will fade after a certain period of time. Either it is cut so deeply into the skin that it will remain, or it is shallow enough to be removed naturally by the skin. Also, so-called 'semipermanent' tattoos may either not fade or fade irregularly, both of which will require additional work to fix.
Honestly, it will be less hazardous and potentially less expensive in the long run to use regular eyeliner.

I think there are a lot of different factors involved. Age of person, where artwork (Tattoo) is, size, design, etc... I saw a young woman at the mall with lotus flowers tattooed all down her back and one shoulder. The flowers were pretty large but I have to admit it really looked very nice. I've seen other women with tattoos on their arms or legs that for some reason did not appeal to me, it wasn't the placement, but the over all design. I really don't care for tattoos on the face or hands, to me both of these locations have nothing to do with art, but pure rebellion. Bottom line in regards to tattoos is that it is a personal choice and the only person who has to be happy with it is the person it is put on.

Look at makeup styles from the previous decades, lots of eyeliner. Now its not so much eyeliner, or maybe a different color like gold eyeliner. This fall the biggest trend is almost no make up or nude colors.
I would never get it done because sometimes I like a lot or maybe none at all.

Gal, I have seen one of my friend's mother's age with permanent eyeliner. Due to skin sag, the eyeliner isn't where it once was. I am now completely distracted by it each and everytime I see her. I'd recommend taking the extra 30 seconds to do it every morning and stay younger looking longer.
