I enjoy hiking, backpacking, and camping. Some of the best places to do that are National Parks. Also, many national parks have world famous waterfalls, climbing, or other natural features for us to look at in awe. I live in the city because I enjoy the convience of it and its where I work and go to school. Just because I live in the city does not mean that I don't want to leave, or that I don't appreciate nature. National Parks are an oasis from our busy lives and provide an escape that I can't get by walking through the Common in downtown Boston.

Are you sure you're asking the question properly ? If people want to get away from city life they have to get out of the city. National parks are anything but cities. If they just cruise around the farmlands they won't see as many interesting things as they will in the national parks. The parks were established because of the special scenery or interesting historical background.

All parks provide escapes from the rigors and stresses of city life. National parks, however, tend to be much larger than local or regional parks, and often have the budget and infrastructure (access roads, etc) to support more intense hiking or longer stays in the wilderness without as much risk to patrons.

It's to experience things they don't in their normal lives. I go to Yellowstone periodically to film grizzly bears and often get too close but it's exciting to be close to an animal that can easily kill you.
I love the smell of pine forests.
My coworkers are retarted and If I don't get time away from them I'll hurt somebody!
Girls in small towns around parks go after tourists for short relationships.
