My bf does that all the time...
I just ignore him. Then he usually repeats what he said at least two more times.
Then I tell him "yes honey, I heard you the first two times and didn't think it was funny then either" He doesn't get offended.
But that may not work with just anyone...
The question is how do you want to react? Are you ok with hurting peoples feelings with the truth or would you rather protect their feelings and just fake out a laugh.
Either way it's not the end of the world.

Just smile once... It doesnt cost much... neither does it do any harm... But if the other person is offending you with any of the 'jokes', put your foot down and say 'its not funny'... otherwise, just turn a deaf ear... Am sure the other person will get the message

If you don't think its funny then don't laugh but give them a disgusted look like yor lost on the joke, so that they can know its not funny.

you don't have to react, if the person is smart they'll get it, but you know you can smile politely and change the subject completely
