Think of it this way. God is non existant. When we "sin" this simply means we are doing something that is socially unacceptable (for example lying on your taxes). God doesn't and can't know anything since he doesn't exist, however, YOU know you lied on your taxes. So you are really asking to forgive yourself. By simply asking to be forgiven, you are starting the process of forgiving yourself. Next you forgive yourself. Then, you are free from the guilt, worry, anxiety etc of knowing you did something wrong but hiding it. IF you are thinking about something you did in the past that you think was wrong but haven't forgiven yourself of the act, then this means you are still worrying, fretting and being un-necessarily anxious about it. Forgive yourself and move on with your life.

He doesn't "forget" it, He just accepts your apology for doing it and forgives you. It's not like He automatically doesn't know about it anymore because you repented. God knows about all you do, all you did, all you will do, and what you are thinking. The important thing is to try your hardest not to sin and to ask for forgiveness if you are truly sorry for a past sin.

God doesn't like forget anything because God is perfect and forgetting is imperfect. God is so perfect, in fact, that He or She doesn't get upset with our humanness--God knows we're simply human and places perfect expectations upon our imperfections. So, if God knows we're really sorry about a sin, then thinking about it for whatever reason will not anger God.

Even though we are christians, we are not perfect, we can only strive to be perfect in God. We will continually make mistakes in our lives, we just have to make sure we do not abuse by continuing to make the mistakes. Ask God to help you to forgive yourself and the comforter will aid you into feeling better in it. We will not be perfect till we go to live with him. Good Luck in your paper.

Actually the scripture says he "casts it into the sea of forgetfullness" He may know what you are thinking but if you truly have repented he knows. Also, don't forget, satan loves to use guilt trips on us for past sin. To tempt us also, he will use whatever ammo he can, which can include where we have fallen in the past.

God forgives us, if we repint with our hearts. Which means, we ask for forgivness and in our minds, we are wishing we never did that and we intend not to do it again.
