I'm afraid practice makes perfect really. I play the violin and it didn't really take me all that long to learn to sight read music but it's really all down to practice.
The only tip I could give u is maybe to put the letters of the notes underneath the note on your music at first to help you until you get used to reading it. This could possibly help you to memorise the position of the notes on the music and help you to sight read a little quicker.
Hope this helps you.

RE:
Roughly how long does it take to fluently sight read music?
I am currently at grade 5 piano level. My sight reading is not very good.
I practice my sight reading for 10 - 15 minutes per day, along with piano practice.
Also, do you have any tips for making it easier?
Thanks!

Its just practice. Its a long time since I played but I am a grade 7 flautist and I think I was reading sight music fluently by about grade 4 - but of course reading bass and treble at the same time is a lot, lot harder!
One day, it will suddenly come to you - a bit like learning to ride a bike. Practicing sucks - but it is worth it in the end. Keep up the good work. x

Hi Wehaha, First you should ask yourself - what is sight-reading? If you know what is sight reading really it is a lot easier to learn to sight-read. If someone does not know what he/she is doing how would it be possible to do it well? Usually people just take the note sheet and sight-read and sight-read but they improve really slowly. But the sight-reading skill can be improved drastically if to know what is really happening in this process, divide the learning into certain sections and then work with each section. So what are the parts that form sight-reading and what have you really to do when sight-reading? I will try to bring these parts out in the logical order: 1) You look at the note sheet and recognize the note. 2) You find the right note on the keyboard. 3) You choose the right fingering for playing the key. (Finding instantly the right fingering is an important part of sight-reading) 4) You have to read rhythm well to sight-read. 5) You also should have an ability to see melodies and notes in logical positions or handfuls of notes in other words. 6) The knowledge of harmony and chords helps very much. And then there are technical skills that come into play and more things. But I brought out the major things in sight-reading. Now if you just sight-read without thinking - there are so many different details that the sight-reading will improve very slowly. Maybe your rhythmical skill is excellent but your note recognition is very slow. When just "generally sight-reading" you might be in trouble and you might even not know why. What I suggest - take each step separately and you will probably discover exactly what are your best and weakest skills that are part of sight-reading. If you work with each part separately with full concentration your sight-reading will develop very quickly. There is a saying - every group is just as slow as its slowest member - the same thing works in sight-reading. Also I suggest visualisation - the picture of the note should associate quickly with the pattern on the keyboard. Mental sight-reading - sight-reading in your head is also very efficient. Because if you want or not, you still have to sight-read also in your head at the same time when sight-reading. Your brain leads all the actions. So the fact how quickly you learn sight-reading has more to do with HOW you learn it not HOW MUCH you sight-read. Hope it helped :) Best wishes, Jaak

you can either do it vry easily as a natural gift or you have to keep practising. 10-15 mins a day is perfect. try sight singing too this will help you start to hear the music in your head. I'm a pro singer and my sight reading is still poor i just keep practising.

You should try grade seven! I'd just keep up with what you are doing. Every time you go to start, take a minute to look it over, check for the highest and lowest notes, and look for any difficult sections. It usually helps to get things clear in your head. Hope that helps you out!

Most people believe that once they are diagnosed with some vision problem and start wearing eye glasses or contact lenses to correct them, they will have to do so for life in order to see better. Those who want a permanent solution to improve eyesight typically resort to Lasik or other corrective eye surgeries. But you you can also improve your vision without surgery and can see perfectly well without using eyeglasses or contact lenses. You can check here to know how https://tr.im/8b6d1
