Ok, before anything, I told my baby's doctor whats going on but she said it was normal, but mom's can relate to me about gut feelings and what the doctor says isn't right.
Here's the deal, for the past week, I've been giving my baby her formula, she'll start sucking and she takes 2oz, then I burp her and everything is fine. I try feeding her again, but then she'll start crying and has a hard time trying to eat. I can tell that she's still hungry cause she'll suck on it, but then she cries. I can hear her stomach rumble, and everytime that happens, she cries. She was a good eater taking 4-6oz, now she's only taking 2-3oz.
Now, do you think this is normal like the doctor says? Or do you think my gut is right? Anybody gone thru this experience?

You should always follow your "Mother's Intuition".
However, your Doctor may be right. Babies go through phases. Sometimes they eat more, sometimes less.
But if you think that your little one is still hungry, and fusses when she eats, she may be sick. An ear infection can cause it to hurt when she swallows. Does she have a fever? Cold symptom?Maybe you should take her and make sure her ears are OK.
Good Luck - it's no fun when you think that your little one is hurting.

yes, some times my baby(now 6 years old) would do this. he would take "snacks" all the time but would never eat a full meal. anything more than a few ounces and he was pissed. I would go back to the doctor if you're worried about it, but if her "soft spot" (the soft part of the top of her skull) is not sinking in, with the exception of crying, I'd not sweat it. I would however try to give her more feedings with less milk. also, you could change the formula. a breast fed baby will go through this if he/she doesn't like the food you ate the night before.

Check the bottle nipples...the holes could be too big (baby getting lots of air causing gas) or the holes could be too small (baby not getting formula & getting frustrated). It is also possible the baby was eating 4-6 ounces because she was going through a growth spurt around 3 weeks of age. My daughter just went through her 3 week growth spurt and now she's not eating as much as she used to in one sitting.
I would not be worried as long as the baby has good output (6-8 wet diapers a day and 3-4 dirty diapers). According to my doctor, If she's still having good output, she's okay.

Maybe gas, maybe acid reflux, maybe both try lying her face down across your legs to burp her. And don't stop trying after one burp, she may have two bubbles in there. If this doesn't work try switching her to soy formula. or maybe lactose free formula. It is easier to digest so less acid and less gas. All three of my kids were on this and they all got better within a week. also ask your doc about reglan or zantac to help with acid if this is the problem. And of course you are right! Trust that motherly instinct!

Check the nipple on the bottle to make sure it is big enough for her to get enough milk out of it. Sometimes they will cry if the nipple gets clogged or the hole is too small and they are hungry. If it`s not something that simple, and it`s gas, people have given you plenty of information on what to do.You might want to switch to a different formula, I had to do that with two of my kids. Always trust you motherly instincts though. Good luck, and God Bless.

Try a different bottle. Maybe she is having trouble with the air bubbles and is getting gas pains. If that doesn't work, try changing her formula. Maybe, for some reason, it isn't agreeing with her stomach. Somethings are trial and error- keep trying different things until everything is the way you feel it should be.

The first thing you need to do if you are not satisfied with the opinion of your pediatrician, is to get a second opinion. You never know if it really something so have it checked just in case.
Second, as a parent of three children I can tell you that what you are describing is perfectly normal. Saw my wife struggle with the same problems, it is usually colic and/or they get so desperate to eat that they start crying.

Chances are she may have a gas problem. Is her belly hard? Try get some mycalin drops at walmart. They work wonders. Also, if the gas problem continues, switch her to low iron formula. Comes in the pink can. That's what I had to do with my daughter. Good luck to you.
