I think cloning of spare parts will happen soon - within the next 10 years certainly. It will be accepted practice within 20. If you do a little research, you'll find that blood transfusions were looked on as "just wrong" when accurate blood typing was first developed. Now, it's routine, and the Red Cross has centers across the country just for this purpose. I wonder who will start the practice of cloning replacement organs once one starts to fail? Will doctors write prescriptions to allow patients to donate cells to start the process?

And someone will probably successfully clone a human within the next 20 years, too; maybe even sooner. Can't you just imagine some rich person funding this research privately, because they don't want to die without an heir? Or it might be some dictator, convinced that he's a superior human, and wants to have a successor who's as superior as he is.

I'm still undecided about clones... I mean this would be a living, breathing and thinking person at the end of the day, and it would be demeaning to know that they were created only for their body parts (put yourself in that position). However, I'm much more in favor of using stem cells for research. So much good could come out of that and there would be no need to create one single other person just to harvest their organs.

I was there when the fishes were floating in the sea and it made a pretty rainbow that tickled under my knees I thought ti was a breeze but a feather fell down from a bird and made me sneeze who knew that math could hurt when you slip on a rock and die.

the thought of it grosses me out actually. people aren't supposed to be made that way. i wonder if they have a soul...a spirit. i think it's wrong to clone animals. its just not meant to be. just because we've got the technology doesn't mean it's going to be something positive to add to the world.

Have you seen the way we treat livestock? It's contemptuous and completely unethical. But no-one seems to give a ****.
I'm not sure what the difference would be. I wouldn't want another me walking around though.

It doesn't matter whether you think it's ethical or not.More and more scientists are coming up with creative alternatives to help people. It's the society we live in.
