The previous answers are valid ones, however, if you seriously want to use one, I'd recommend stand up tanning instead of lie down as you have to spend less time in the booth. The best thing to do is to exfoliate your skin the morning before you go tanning, apply no perfume or body lotion. Once you get to the tanning facility make sure they advise you of the risks involved and show you how to use the equipment. Before you tan, make sure that you have had water to drink & that you use a good tanning lotion, the Australian Gold range is inexpensive & good value for money. Take care to apply the lotion evenly as you will get darker/blotchy areas on your knees, ankles & elbows. Rub the lotion in circular motions not up & down. Start tanning for a few minutes only (about 3) & bulid up your sessions if you can stand the heat. Make sure there's an automatic stop if you feel faint or too hot and check that the bed/booth has a fan. ALWAYS use goggles, it's not enough to just close your eyes! After tanning wash you hands or they'll go orange. Just so you know, I work in a gym with stand up tanning facility & I've not yet had a lady look like an oompa loompa! Still concerned?? Try using Ambre Solaire self tanning lotions, they're great!! Good Luck, hope this helps

First thing is first...

1. Use a tanning lotion with Aloe Vera gel/oil in it! Its just like using SPF outside but inside use!
2. Try something with a Bronzer or Tingler! Both of these will max your tan!
3. Start off slow... 7 minutes first time, after two or three times move to 10 minutes...another 2-3 times move to 13, another 2-3 times move to 15, etc...
4. After a few times try the uppers beds to get some more color depth!

**Regular beds are pretty much used to help your melanin going.
***Upper beds are used more to brown you and not burn you!

If you are going to use a tanning bed do it in moderation. and no matter what they say clean it before you lay down and when you aer finished. The ppl that work there will say that it has been cleaned and it's courtsey to clean it when you're finished but some ppl don't. If you tan too much it can promote cancer and your skin can get a leathery look but if you do it in moderation you should be fine

I would walk out the room and never go back in... No matter how old you are you can still get skin cancer... I have a friend that at the age of 15 was diagnosited with skin cancer... It has been very hard on her for the last 8 years!

change your mind would be my advice. they are gross and make your skin look absolutely disgusting. with all of the products on the market now, why would you subject yourself to that? ever seen a lady in her 30's or 40's that has been tanning all of her life? not a good look...

I'm not sure, but congratulations! Don't get mad, but they are very bad for you and your skin! I would'nt recommend it because they cause you to look really old and they can give you skin cancer. Instead use a tinted sunless tanner, they are really easy to use and they don't require any sun at all. And they can make you look even more fabulous and healthy!

reconsider.

Tanning beds are more dangerous than the sun. And you look like a freakin' oompa loompa when you're done.

Don't do it, it's disgusting. The leather bag look is never in.

Have your skin moisturized completely and clean the bed yourself with the cleaners they have for you in the room. I use this lotion and oil and I love it.

Be comfortable with the fact that you're going to get skin cancer?
