I don't think Ghost Rider or Iron Man will be big franchises- they will be very successful one or two-shot movies, though. The characters just don't lend themselves to continuing sagas. Iron man could, but with today's technology he's just not a cool concept anymore. He was radical back in the 1960s, not in the era of voice-recognition software, cellphones, GPS and night vision goggles available to the average citizen.

AquaMan, Wonder Woman & Captain Marvel have franchise potential, but not any more than Superman (and studios would probably give him the nod over any of them- they prefer safe bets to anything new)

I agree that Green Lantern or Silver Surfer could be HUGE. There's a huge market of sci-fi fans and those characters could be the next generation's Star Trek. Just about every complex storyline from shows like SG1, Babylon 5, Star Wars, Farscape etc would work for them- Alien civilizations, interstellar politics, black holes, natural disasters, alternate timelines...

Captain America has franchise potential if done correctly (kind of with an "Alias" edge to it). Today's political environment has all sorts of storyline material- plenty of thrilling operations for Cap to be involved in.

But GL and SS would have greater worldwide appeal. I doubt Cap would be very popular in Europe or Asia.

The Tick. But Samuel L. Jackson as the Green Lantern would be awesome. A Justice League movie with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, And the Wonder Twins would totally rule. Cast should be the newcomers that played Superman returns and Batman begins, Angelina Jolie, The Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba/John Sena and you can computer animate Gleek. I can see it now. Kind of sketchy on the Wonder Twins John Sena I can live w/o.

I thought Silver Surfer was due several years ago. But, I don't think the loner concept will work now. X-Men was popular because they are a TEAM.

It's about relationships.

Thor could work (imagine HHH as Thor) but he'd have to skip the soliliquies...generally he's too much of a loner and pontificates too much.

Wonder Woman has been toyed with, but the modern one wouldn't sell, and the old one would offend too many folks.

GL was my favorite as a kid, but he'd be way too campy. The special effects still won't work, and besides, Hal has too many heartbreaks (even SpiderMan finally got the girl) and Kyle is a wuss.

I've heard they've booked a solo shot for Wolverine. There were some good stories in the first issues of his series, so it could be done.

I think they could pull off a good one w/ Iron Man too. But, it's got to be as much about Stark as Iron Man. And too much whining by Stark would kill it.

I hear The Silver Surfer is coming out with a movie soon... He's a Marvel comic, apparently some sort of alien who rides a surf board. Ironman is coming too, another Marvel character. I predict Ironman to be a box office hit.

Last I heard, Wonder Woman was going to be a comedy starring Sandra Bullock (really!). I think either Iron Man or Green Lantern could be big franchises movie-wise if they were done right. They have relatively good familiarity.

Come on people it has to be Green Lantern or Silver Surfer...that would so totally rule . They have the CGI now that would do both characters justice in up coming projects ..and I know the Surfer will be in the next Fantastic 4 moive but I want to see him in is own movie.

And I would love to see a Green Lantern ... just imagine how kick azz awesome that would be.

I had an entire star studded cast picked out for a live action Thundercats movie. But WB won't talk to me about the rights. They suck, it would be a great movie.
