We all know if you walk your dog down the road and he poops you clear it away. If you don't and you get caught you get a fine... rightly so....
SO WHY are horses allowed to use the roads and sh*t everywhere. Are not the people in charge of them liable? Should they not use some type of 'Bum Bag' to catch the droppings?

I ask because here in Skegness the beach donkeys are walked to the beach and they sh*t all over the place..... why is this acceptable when a small pooch pooh can land you a hefty fine???

Or am I just being a Grumpy old G*t ??

Best wishes,
Graham

Dogs faeces has a lot of germs in it due to the fact that they eat a meat based diet. The germs can be very dangerous to humans.
Horse poop is basically just grass and hasnt got the same risk, so I take it this is why they dont have to clean it up.
They should have to clean it up though as it makes a terrible mess. Maybe you should try complaining to the local council if it annoys you so much, I'm sure there are others who would support you.

Am I the only one who thinks Donkeys/ponys/horses should be 'BUM Bagged'?

Think about this logically - some horses are hard enough to manage without having to carry a bag - dismount off your horse - try and hold the horse whilst cleaning up the droppings and then remount your horse and ride happily along whilst clutching your bag????
Also horse droppings are no where near as smelly and poisonious as dog droppings - also they way you talk about the owners who clean up the dog droppings?? BS - I have yet to see an owner stop and clean up their dogs mess along the country roads and beaches where I ride my horses.

LOL My horses would freak at the sight of a pooper scooper or have one attached to their butt. But their poop does make nice fertilizer, even if its in unsightly piles. Have you tried to get a bunch of people together, including the donkey's owners and have a big beach clean up day? Kind of like adopt a highway here. It won't end the messes, but if its picked up regularly, maybe it won't be as offensive.

perhaps you could design a useable 'bum bag'. At the moment, the only way for a horse owner to clear up after their horse is to ride with a shovel and bag/bucket attatched to there saddle, then get off there horse, pick up the pooh and get back on there horse.

This is not a workable solution. You find an easier way for me to clear up after my horse and i will gladly do it.

I think donkey poo is collected off the beach for fertiliser. Dogs don't tend to be walked on the road, unlike horses. Most of the dog poo I see is on the pavements!

I think it would probably be a good idea, it would also keep the roads and crap cleaner. It wouldnt be any work for the person with the horses other than to put the bag on and dispose of it so I dont see why its such a controversy.

They do catch the poop in places like New york for the horses pulling the carriges, but really horse poop ins't toxic or anything all it is is chewed up grass. To be frank i dont need one for my horse because she eats some of hers. And this is normal too. Alot of horses eat there poop because they are regaining the good bacteria that they lost in the digestion process. Plus it makes picking her stall alot easier

For some strange reason I was talking to somebody about this a few days ago. I was told that (here in Canada) you will often see police horses wearing bags attached around the tail to catch any waste.
I have yet to see it though.

Love that question lol Dog poo is full of more dangerous germs and stuff than horse and donkey poo plus horse poo is good for your garden. I'd be interested and amused to see horses and donkeys in a nappy of sorts, might I suggest you write to Pampers and/or Huggies to suggest they make nappies for such beasts?? wow can you imagine the size of pooper scooper needed to clean up such deposits off the streets?? horse and donkey riders could attach it to the saddle!!
