Look up the August 28, 2006 issue of The New Yorker in the library. It has a very interesting and useful article about stage fright in it. For instance, it has stories about LAwrence Olivier, who was widely considered the greatest English stage actor of the 20th century, and who had terrible stage fright. He used a variety of techniques to fight it, including that certain people be in the wings. He wrote: "Stage fright is... always waiting outside the door, waiting to get you. You either battle or walk away."

I used to be real bad about soloing and stuff, so the band leader just kinda grabbed me and put me in front of a packed house one night. Worked real good i must say...now i go for it ever chance i can get. As far as acting...when i work with actors, i simpley make sure that there is one point when they screw up (or so they thought) and hopefully they see that it wasnt that bad as long as they keep going.. But if your working on yourself, ask for a solo part, a monologue or something with lighting right on you in front of a full house. Works good.

What I did was get truely absorbed in myself and the preformance and eventually forget that the audience is there.

And if that doesn't work, remember that they are all watching the preformance and not trying to see if you'll mess up or if something in the preformance will go wrong.

REMEMBER!!!
They do not know what is supposed to happen, so if something goes wrong, act off of it, improvise!

one of our actor's cell phone went off during our play and he acted like it was a business call since he was a salesperson!
no one noticed!

I find my self a focus point that is just above the audience...like a clock on the wall or something, and see only that, overlook the people there.
It has done miracales for me, I sure hope it will help you, too.

Just get up there and do it...

The better prepared you are, the easier it becomes.

Know your material....

Know it well...

Know it like you know your bedroom in the dark...

Know it so well you can do it with your eyes closed...

Know it so well you can do it standing on your head, while eating ice cream, and scratching your butt....

Know your material...

Get up there and do it...

Then get up there and do it again...
