the floor has no type of stain or paint its all natural not sure what kind it is the house was built in 1939 but when its dry it returns to its original state...

Wood absorbs the water, it's porous. Murphys wood oil soap would be a more gentle cleansing choice.

If the floor is turning color when you clean it, it has lost the protective varnish coating. I would highly recommend thoroughly cleaning the floor, let it dry then apply a coat of clear wood varnish. Use a brush for application and go with the grain of the wood for a smooth floor. One coat should be enough to last many more years. Once you have fully sealed the floor, plan on spending a couple of days out of the treated area to let it dry properly without stirring up dust or other contaminants that will dull the finish. If you want to maintain the old country look, use a dull or matte varnish. If you want the modern look go for a high gloss or satin varnish. Hope this helps.
