Good bar/clubs in or around Boston?

Question

A friend and I are planning a trip to Boston and would like to go out at least one night. Would prefer a place with a live band (no country or hip-hop) and cheap drinks (dive bars are ok as long as the band is good) Any suggestions on where we should go?
