It seems to me that the people with the most racist, hateful views are the ones spewing their questions and answers everywhere. If you have hate in your heart, why do you want everyone else to have it as well? And in return, why do people with the most open of minds and loving of hearts not seem to be as zealous as the other?

How did I answer my own question?

Namesaev, I have found some people to claim open-mindedness, and then completely shut out the opposition. Mostly on terms of religion, however. And I suppose that's because religion isn't supposed to be something you can give way on.

I don't believe people that are racist are always hateful. They have been taught that and have learned it most of their lives. They don't always have to be so verbal about it, I agree, but they do have a right to that opinion and they have a right to voice it. I also, wish they had been taught how to voice their opinions appropriately.

Good observation but do they know they have closed minds , thats the challenge that you must explore . How do we measure closed mindness objectively , can our studies be reproducible .

Those that you have "labelled racists with hate spreading their hatred " consider themselves as spreading the word " in religion and in business it is called " Marketing" their product .

Different styles will be used to get to the Market ( public ) by any form or kind however it is the ability to tell the difference between products and their usage that keeps us safe and that ability is wisdom and that we can measure and it certainly is not common to many people and because they know they are weightless on the scale of wisdom they tend to compansate for this loss with loud mouth , some call it mouthing thus the saying that says "Empty vessels makes a lot of noise "

education , education , education . you are right

Because it is a right given to all that they can speak when they feel the urge to open their mouths.

People that have closed minds do not think that they do. They believe themselves to be intelligent and coherent. That's their problem.

Plus, it's easy to hate because people listen. Love requires an open heart. Hate requires nothing more than the acceptance to disregard emotions and thought.

It's very hard to hate with an open heart.

But those that are closed off don't care.

It's the lack of compassion and understanding....

Some people never want to understand any viewpoint other than their own.

In my opinion, that's their loss... not ours.

Anything that is closed (including a mind) is incapable of letting anything in (like intelligence). It's this intelligence (that's not accessible to the closed mind) that alerts the more open minded to close their mouths. Open minded (more intelligent) people know when it's not worth their time and energy arguing with the less evolved, and hence don't waste their time doing it. They'll just walk away and go do something more worthwhile.

My opinion on this matter is that anyone who's *mouth overflowith's" is usually an unhappy person with themselves as well as with any one of the human race. Most times when the *spewage* is let loose it is because that person is trying to knock the other person down for whatever reasons their minute mind is coming up with- and thinks this is the way to make the listening person *possibly* accept their beliefs (and accept them as a person). these people are mainly trying to compensate for what is lacking in their own lives by putting their victims/targets down. I say to those negative people..."Try loving yourself, and make yourself happy- so your not a miserable person to be around!"

because they have to have a release valve. if they are too zealous, they can't keep their minds open when their mouths are. just because they want you to have their hate, you do not have to accept it. people who are loving and seem not to be zealous are more tolerant of others, because they are they are giving them time, and hope they will see things in a more objective way.

Good question. It goes right along with why do many of those who claim to be open minded refuse to listen to or even consider the counter points to their positions?

Misery loves company. As for the opposite, they are those disguised as what you describe like PETA who are just plain nuts. People who are open-minded respect even those who disagree with their beliefs. I guess it's just a matter of respect.

It's all in the way you are taught.

If you are taught that the sky is green and I say that the sky is blue. You will argue it.

The color will actually be the same but you were taught that the word for that color is different.
So to you I am WRONG and to me YOU are WRONG.

In reality it just doesn't matter...
