I got a big patch of sticky All Purpose Honee wax (microwave formula hair removal system) on the back leg of my shorts - yes, I realize it was a bad idea to wear cordoroy shorts while waxing - does anyone have some true and tried methods of sticky wax removal? The 'Wax Off' stuff that came with the kit works poorly. Traditional greese cleansers Lava soap and Fast Orange hand cleanser work MUCH better for skin. . . however, I don't want to ruin my shorts! Thanks.

please help!! If you've figured out how to get rid of sticky (sticky to the touch), let me KNOW! THIS WAX IS STICKY WHEN COLD! It is not your Momma's wax, it is not candel wax, it is not brazilian wax, and plase don't suggest that an organic solvent will dissolve it (only a solvent with a similar chemical structure to the compound in question will work).

I don't know if Lava soap will ruin clothes, but I do know that wax is an organic molecule, thus one should use an organic solvent. Try using a strong alcohol like high proof rum or vodka. Everclear would be best if you have access to it as it is 95% ethanol. By that matter gasoline or kerosine would work really well too, although I'm not sure what they would do to the color of your shorts. Acetone (nail polish remover) is also an organic solvent that may be more subtle than the hydrocarbon fractions (gasoline and kerosine). You wouldn't need to use much of anything, except the alcohol might require a bit more than the others. Anyway, first use a razor to scrape off the bulk of the wax and use the solvent to remove the absorbed and adsorbed waxes.

Use a paper towel, or other very absorbent paper, and lay over wax, iron on low. The paper will absorb the wax. Then rub some plain dish soap into the shorts and wash . Should fix the problem.

Try using an iron and a piece of paper. Lay the paper over the wax and then run the iron over it. It should transfer the wax to the paper.

Try some goo gone or goo off! it should work. or wash those shorts in hot water to melt the wax, between the washer and drier it should come off.

Try freezing it and then flake it off of the fabric. You may still have an oily stain, use something like Dawn dishsoap to remove that.
