Some might think they have proof that humans have a soul, but in reality it's impossible to prove. It's a question of whether you have faith to believe in the idea of the soul, much like other religious beliefs. It's not provable by reason of insufficient facts.

I have an interesting theory on this. As of right now, most believe there is no way to destroy energy, matter yes, but energy only changes form...We all know that virtually all life and all substances known have some form of energy (positive and negatively charged usually)....anyway, I believe that the soul is a projection of what is left after the body leaves us. It in essence is the willful form underneath our skin.
Once our body dies, electrical impulses still flow through the body for a limited amount of time after which I can only assume the charges leave the body (kind've like our own gravitational field) as there is nothing functioning (such as the synapses in the brain) that causes charge/energy. At this time our soul and all knowlege we've acquired is free to do as it pleases.
Most go where they've always believed they were to go (heaven/ valhalla/ another world/ no where/ etc) as all that is left is pure impulse and knowledge. Though all knowledge may not be true, it is relevant and thus builds our own reality. So I kind've feel like everyone would be right in this instance. It is what we allow it to be.
To observe, measure, record or otherwise prove this theory, now that's a dillema....

Proof of the soul's existence is possible by the process of self-realization. As the name implies self-realization means that the person receives self knowledge of his eternal existence. It is revealed by purification of consciousness to himself alone. Just as when you eat a meal and become satisfied, you know your own feelings of satisfaction, but no one else knows this. And to prove to someone else how you felt would be very difficult if not impossible. How do you measure your satisfaction? In the same way, self-realization is the science of knowing the self, the soul, through purification of consiousness. The second chapter of the Bhagavad-gita gives more information than I could put here. So check that out at the link below.

Actual proof is still unattainable due to scientific thoughts and theories. Remember the world was once believed to be flat?! Just because you choose to believe or not believe does not make it true. There are Universal Laws that are very real whether we choose to be conscience of them or not. When people ask you "what does your heart tell vou?" the answer that you find is coming from your soul.

No offense but I think you might be trying to find clues using an incompatible method.
Some Jewish mystics believe that the infinite God cannot be known to Man. Likewise, explaining or containing the soul with science of the physical realm is as futile as capturing the oceans in Coke bottles.
The ancient Egyptians believed the body belongs to Man, but the soul resides with God.
In my country, there is a phrase, 'don't play, play', meaning, don't mess with it.
I was wasting my words, but what's done is done.

someone sold their soul to the devil before and some on ebay. Sometmes people see ghosts and call them walking walling souls. Or there soul food? Soul music? hehe, just kididng.
Edit: Do you believe in Guardian Angels? Sometimes peole dont believe until they've experienced a near death experience. I too have been saved by angels before. Also, my little bro that died as a fetus, my parents believed that his soul went to heaven since he's so innocent.

There is no proof. There is no counter proof. No one can prove to me that there is a soul, but no one can prove to me that there is not a soul either. In the Genesis epic, it is written, "...and man(kind) became a living soul." There are some interesting references to souls (as persons, or not) in the New Testament as well. There are also some who claim to know the weight of a soul, as they claim weight is immediately lost after a person dies. It's interesting but I haven't seen any credible sources on that claim. I have yet to refute a claim of the Bible, though.

I watched some history programme years ago and it said that an ancient greek guy weighed a man just before he died and just after.
The man weighed less after he'd died so the greek guy believed that the difference in weight was the weight of the man's soul.

Objective scientific proof? - None that I'm aware of.
Philosophical and semantic proofs aplenty - these proofs are as valid as the axioms behind them.
