I think that you will find that it is the Conservative's position that the goverment has no standing in your use of drugs. In fact, one of the most outspoken champions for the legalization of ALL drugs is Bill Buckley.
It's the position of liberals that they know better than you what you should and should not do.

Hmm....I really don't understand why weed is illegal. I don't smoke it and I think it isn't a very wise thing to do but there are many more harmful things out there that are legal. Marijuana smoking has technically NEVER killed a person. People have killed themselves while using it because it can make one depressed but so can other things. Cigarettes kill thousands of people but they are still legal. If the argument may be, that marijuana is illegal because of its intoxicating effects well they better take a look at alcohol which does the same thing but much worse. And alcohol can very well kill you. These things are still legal though. Now, I am not saying that I want it to be legalized and want a bunch of dopeheads walking around but I wonder why it is illegal when so many worse things are out there and are very much legal.
Now what was the question? Heh, sorry just had to put that out there.

I think if the government legalized it, and treated it like tobacco - mainly started taxing it - then we could wipe out this rather large deficit that our country has at the moment.
Legalizing it would mean help for chemotherapy patients (both pain and nausea relief), and so many other people that are hooked on pain medications.
We have so many other problems in the country (homelessness, poverty and as far as drugs go, Meth is a much bigger problem). I agree that our government needs to just go ahead and make marijuana legal and worry about more important issues.

As a conservative, I agree with you. The drug war expands the government into the private lives of citizens at the expense of liberty. It is founded on the belief that you do not own your own body, but the government does.
People have a right to abuse themselves, to not wear seat-belts, to use drugs, alcohol, coffee, and other stupid things.
The "war on drugs" is a joke.

Nope, yep, legalize it, and I will advertise it.
(tip: if you can kick coffee, you'll save money on weed! Try tea, decafe, substitutes, anything)
